Licensed Psychologists

Licensed psychologists (LPs) provide comprehensive mental health and substance use services, including psychological assessment, testing, diagnosis, and therapy interventions. LPs are licensed and regulated by the North Carolina Psychology Board (NCPB). Using 2024 North Carolina licensure data, there were 2,398 active and statewide practicing psychologists (2,373 permanent LPs and 25 provisional LPs) in the state with a rate of 2.18 per 10,000 population.
